Career Opportunities

masterInstitutions managing natural resources on both public and private land are undergoing a processes of aggregation to increasingly large units, which are responsible for large tracts of land. These institutions do not only require generalist forest or natural resource managers, who can translate management objectives to local level, they also require specialists, who have the capacity to manage particular programmes over the whole area in fields such environmental monitoring, biodiversity conservation, soil conservation, silvicultural research etc. This MSc course is specifically designed to allow students to specialise in some of these aspects of ecosystem management, while also acquiring sufficient general knowledge and skills.

Graduates of the MSc course ’Forest Ecology and Management‘ will be well prepared for careers and future employment in:

  • private and public institutions with a focus on sustainable management of natural resources,
  • national and international organisations for nature conservation and environmental protection,
  • consulting firms,
  • national and international organisations with a focus on sustainable development and management of natural resources (i.e. FAO, IWF, UNEP, ministries, GTZ, KfW or NGOs),
