Admission requirements

  • BSc (or equivalent primary degree) well above average in Forest or Agricultural Sciences, Geography, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Land Use Planning, Nature Conservation or Natural Resource Management. In very exceptional cases students with a different background and excellent academic records may also be eligible to the program.
  • Very good English language skills (TOEFL paper-based 600 points, internet-based 100 points, IELTS band 7; TOEFL code number 8692; TOEFL should not be older than 2 years) Click here to register for the TOEFL iBT test online.

 

Application deadline

The program can only be started in the Winter semester. Normally the application deadline is mid may before the semester starts but always check the News Section for the specific date.

Dates of terms:

  • Winter semester: mid October until mid February
  • Summer semester: mid April until the end of July

Online application form:

The online application form does not substitute the written application, but it helps to determine whether you are eligible to apply or not. Therefore, we recommend you to submit the online application first and only send your complete application by post if asked to do so by us.

Written application form:

Please, fill in the application form and enclose the following documents:

  • Previous education certificates (officially authenticated copies). Certificates and academic transcripts in languages other than English or German must be officially translated into German or English.
  • TOEFL certificate (paper-based 600 points, internet-based 100 points, IELTS band 7; TOEFL code number 8692)
  • Detailed curriculum vitae
  • A motivation letter explaining why you chose to apply for admission to the Masters Program (guidelines)
  • Two letters of recommendation from university professor(s) or employment supervisor(s). (Please use our questionnaire)

 

Visa requirements

Students from EU or EFTA countries, as well as from Australia, Canada, Honduras, Israel, Japan, Monaco, New Zealand and the United States of America do not need a student visa.

Students of other nationalities must have a student visa. The visa must be obtained from the German embassy in the student's home country. If you wish to come to Germany to do a language course before the masters course begins you can obtain an applicant's visa. Do not in any case enter Germany with a tourist visa.

To obtain a student visa you must have the official letter of acceptance from the university and provide proof that you have funding for your stay in Germany.
